Alyssa Matthews Obituary

Alyssa Claire Shinkle Dickey Matthews

Or just Al, as she preferred to be called, was an exceptional woman by anyone's standards.

Al was born on in the Summer of 1989 and she passed away in her sleep in the Spring of 2024. Al was a beloved daughter (Jennifer Macijunas, Joel, and Deb  Shinkle), the beloved older sister (Zach Mohr), a proud mother (Tessa Dickey and Sylus Hultquist) and a precious Granddaughter (Terry & Theresa Stoltz and Siouxze Essence).

If you could have read the countless notes of condolences, received by the family, you might understand how incredible Al really was as a woman and a friend. So, we will just to share a couple thoughts that were sent to the family.

"Alyssa was intelligent, witty, funny, amazing and caring." "Alyssa was a creative one of a kind, and a beautiful soul," "She had such a passion for animals, especially cats, and had her own business of transporting many fury creatures, with love and care, throughout the United States, and she was very successful." "Successful because she was determined, driven and focused with a passion to create this new business of her very own. Alyssa also had a great fondness for raccoons, squirrels and believe it or not, turtles.

"Alyssa was an excellent Barista, a job for which she had a incredible passion." "Alyssa was an excellent photographer. She took some of the most spectacular photos we've ever seen."

"I had the opportunity to work with her for a bit and what a spirit! I hope that through the outpouring of love and support from this, you can find some peace in knowing what a mark she left in the world. As unbelievable as this is, her light will always be remembered, cherished, and greatly missed.

Because of this amazing life, Alyssa got to see every state in the contiguous United States, and many many historical and geographical aspects of interest. Something that most of us have never done in our lives.

Finally, "I was blessed by God, who brought her into my life and asked me to feel her love. And I did!"

Alyssa was open and accepting of everyone she ever met. Alyssa was kind and loving beyond imagination.

Alyssa's had the most diverse and eclectic taste in music that you could ever imagine.

She dealt with some of life's most difficult issues with charm and grace.  She was always lending a helping hand to others who were in need of care,  love and understanding. The human heart reaches this magnitude rarely and Alyssa's heart was one of those very immense and special hearts.

Rest In Peace our sweet and precious Angel!
